Derived from the heart of Tokyo's izakaya bars, Hachico Inakaya Bar brings a fresh and unique format to Moscow's bustling cityscape. The design team, led by Valeriy Lizunov Ageeva Ekaterina, sought inspiration from the cozy bars nestled next to the Hachico Monument at Shibuya Station. These bars, known for their open kitchens, fresh produce, and robata grills, provided the perfect blueprint for Hachico's design.
What sets Hachico apart is its eclectic and sophisticated interior, subtly hinting at Japanese history. The designers have skillfully avoided typical decorating techniques, opting instead for an atmosphere reminiscent of sitting between the roofs. This effect is achieved through the use of ceramic elements, exclusive ceramic tiles, warm terracotta colors, unique wood, and leather. All these elements come together in a compact 65 square meter space, creating a unique dining experience.
The design team's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the use of traditional Japanese tiles, natural stone, and wood finishes. The color scheme, featuring light brown, gray walls, black, and light beige colors, further enhances the atmosphere. The clever use of lighting creates a cozy twilight in the evening, while the day sees the space flooded with sunlight.
Despite the challenges of custom work with ceramic tiles, cement tiles, and elements, the design team has successfully created a unique space. The centerpiece of the bar, a robata grill, is a novelty in Moscow. The use of natural materials, a six-meter wood slab bar top, and cork tables add to the uniqueness of the design. The bronze Hachico dog, seated outside, welcomes guests, adding a touch of authenticity.
The Hachico Inakaya Bar is a testament to Valeriy Lizunov Ageeva Ekaterina's innovative approach to design. The fusion of Japanese tradition and modern design elements creates a unique dining experience that is both authentic and contemporary. This innovative design has earned the Hachico Inakaya Bar the prestigious Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its remarkable design and innovation.
